The concept of the business class flight was first introduced in the 1970s by Qantas Airlines and the trend was followed by Scandinavian Airlines who introduced the Euro Class with a special cabin and dedicated check-in counters for the first class passengers. The others were soon eager to follow the trend and KLM introduced the Full Fare Facilities Services for the full fare economy class passengers – the one that is now called the business class. Some of the Airlines also called it the Connoisseur Class as it evolved from premium economy. In certain airlines there are curtains to separate them from the economy class when the seats are in the same cabin.
In the United States the business class flight is offered generally on the transcontinental or intercontinental flights with unique facilities. These flights are especially comfortable if you are planning to travel long distances and are much better than the economy class because of the facilities offered. Other than these there are other facilities offered as well and they have a separate area for boarding and separate entrance to the lounge. The lounge generally has excellent facilities for the business class flight passengers and most of them even provide internet access along with food and drinks. If you are traveling transcontinental, most of the lounges offer you facilities to freshen up and take rest in between.
The seats in the business class flight are also very different from the general economy class as they are much larger and comfortable. They all have power connections and are fitted with both audio and video displays. The very new ones are also offering the option to play video games. The business class flight passengers are provided with pillows and blankets for added comfort along with eye pads, head phones and toiletry kits. In some of the international flights, electronic seat control and massagers too are installed in every seat. Some airlines offer flat beds with greater pitch for recline. There are some airlines that provide private suites with mini cabins thus offering more privacy. The most unique facility provided is however the dining options where you have a plenty to choose from.
The main difference is in the price of the business class flight tickets as it depends on the comfort provided and the facilities given. The business class is generally used by people who travel much. A quick search on the internet will provide you the details of the facilities given. Many low cost air carriers like Jet Blue or the Ryan Air do not include any business class services. However, all said and done it is fun to travel in the business class fight which is fully worth the money.
